Juya Ania: Dance and Memory

Exposición en la Embajada de México en Alemania

To acknowledge the final presentation of "Juya Ania" in 2023, the Mexican Embassy in Germany hosted the exhibition “Juya Ania: Dance and Memory”, where Michelle Félix shared the research work that accompanied her creative process.

In Sinaloa, there are more than 25 Mayo-Yoreme Ceremonial Centers, each one with its own identity that is mainly expressed  through dance. With a multidisciplinary team, Michelle Félix documented the Eastern celebrations at Tehueco Ceremonial Center in 2022 and 2023. This exhibition illustrates through masks, instruments, maps and photographs the Eastern processions of the Fariseo dancers: the preface for the appearance of the deer dancer on Holy Saturday.
